The Fish...
The lake was stocked in December 2008 with 225 royal strain carp from 15lb to 35lb these included around 25 thirties and many twenties up to thirty pound mark. All of our fish where hand picked by ourselves, we didn't want all the fish to look the same and as a result we have some real characters. Opening to the public was delayed by two years to get the fish to size with out any angling pressure. The lake was netted and Most of the small original fish were removed, leaving just a few of the pretty looking mirrors and commons that are nice contrast to the stocked fish.
The fish have achieved good weight gains since they were introduced and we now have a good head of thirty pound fish and a good number will be over forty pound this season. These fish in addition to the new stock will give us a very good head of large carp well into the forty pound mark. With the mild winter that we have had we expect to see even better growth rates and we look forward to seeing the results during the 2012 season.
In addition to the carp stocks the lake also holds a good head of Zander into double figures that anglers are more than welcome to fish for.
